Long Driving

Last year, we were able to hit one of our goals and that is to buy our 2nd car, a SUV. Because of the Winter season, we have not really found time to drive it on a long driving getaway. But, we are planning on going somewhere far to test drive it, late next month just in time for hubby's birthday. Right now, we have about 3 choices and I am really hoping that before this week ends, we will be able to finalize that trip so I can book our hotel and also avail of this road trip medical assistance.

My brother just received his PR Card in Australia and he's planning on settling there mid of this year. I know my folks would be pretty sad because that means, all 3 of us now live overseas. But then again, they would have to have a very busy life, traveling in and out of our home country, visiting me and my siblings. As for me, I cannot wait to visit my brother in Australia once he is settled which I am sure he will be very soon. One of the things he is grateful is the overwhelming job offers he has been receiving as soon as he got his PR approved. He is a licensed Engineer and while he is not on the electronics department of the engineering field, he also welcomes companies who handles software development or electronic companies who are in charge in designing Prototype SMT Stencils etc...I wish him all the best in this new direction!

Funny how I got derailed over lunchbreak while randomly surfing. I was just meaning to check out what this letter and number combination: HJC SYMAX 3 meant when I decided to visit the Zara website to check on their current lookbook. Voila, the huge sale button welcomed me and found these flats on 75% off sale! tsk tsk! wrong decision to check the site when I have committed on minimizing my shopping purchases this year hee hee. I had some free time today and instead of taking a nap, I decided to clean up our medicine cabinet and fridge. My main purpose was to check whether there were expiring medicines that I may have overlooked. Thank God, there weren't any. DS started with his Taekwondo lessons last Thursday, it would be a 2-day weekly schedule and I wish that he would not stop until he gets Black Belt hee hee. I noticed how focused and disciplined he was during the entire 45 minute-session and I have a feeling he really likes it. While waiting, I get to chitchat with a coparent whom I became close with, S. She was telling me how devoted her daughter was with her equestrian training. Hmmm, I know I may sound like the boy who cried wolf when I tell you (for the nth time) that yes, I am once again controlling my shopping habits but I think this time it's for real. You see, I think I have finally matured with my shopping choices that I long for quality over quantity. In fact for small purchases, I make sure I buy them by the bulk on sites such as this: Wholesaleinsurance.net because they come out cheaper when you buy wholesale. As for purses, I am challenging my self not to buy any more purses for the next couple of years, instead save for my IT bags. It does not matter how long I will take saving up for these IT bags in my dreamboard for as long as I do not get tempted with other purchases. One of the things I did to avoid temptations is to unsubscribe on shopping blogs. Let's see how far I go with this new shopping sensibility.

In less than 3 weeks from now, DS will start his 1st grade schoolyear. We still need to accomplish a lot of things because during this 1st week of school, we are heading for a trip. Yes, I know, wrong timing but I need to meet up with my bestest childhood friends who I have not seen for almost 5 years now. It is very rare that she and her family are coming for a visit so I will, of course make time for this short visit.

Before things get busy, here's a short rundown of things I needed to accomplish asap:

It was one productive week at work!
After my last task at work which is to research on the most current conference call price, I went to the mall and did some retail shopping. Aside from getting such huge bargains, I was so happy to finally fit in a small, and yes even XS dress size. All I need to do now is to tone my flabs which are so unappealing to look at.

Finally my grueling days at the gym is slowly paying off.

When my friend, A came to visit me last month, she asked me what I wanted from my home country. I was so intrigued with the good reviews on Anthology shoes that I ordered the London tan and Johannesburg. I was eyeing the Cape Town but there was no stock in my size. When I got my new pair of shoes, I was anxious if they would fit me well, I rarely buy shoes online. But to my surprise, they were perfect fit and very comfy! I want more! My friends know that I would rather spend money on tops, blouses and shirts rather than shoes and bags. I love them to bits and I would not want to be caught wearing the same top very often. I used to love printed tops from the dainty to the loud ones and of course my ultimate fave prints, florals! I think I am a plain jane when I wear earth colors and plain tops. On the other hand, my bestfriend and I are opposites, she loves wearing plains, I want them in prints. But as I matured, I guess my taste in clothing has also tamed down a little and my love for plain and simpler styles have evolved. When I checked my closet 2 weeks ago, the plains have simply dominated my printed clothing.

Since I have some free time to online window shop today, I visited Apanage clothing. Their collection ranges from fresh and modern clothing. This is the site I often visit when I am looking for nice feminine tops. I also adore their very unique designs and very flatterring fit. But then again, as I was about to check out my cart, I realized I bought a new purse which slashed major chunk of my shopping budget boo hoo. I guess my new Apanage clothing loot has to wait then.

I purged my closet yet again and this time, I tried my very best to take out all stuff that are not age-appropriate. Yes, friends, I have decided to change image hahahah! Gearing toward 30 something type of dressing, less bright colored clothes and purses, more of plains and earth-colors. I also decided to sell 5 purses that are not worthy keeping as part of my collection anymore. Too bad, only 2 got sold, I guess I will have to sell them to my teenage cousin :P. When one of my closest friends who came from Manila visited me and my friends, the first thing she asked was where she could shop? She wanted to check out LV purses and kitchen stuff. I guess I have to agree with DH that it is time for me to buy a new pair of running shoes. You see, when it comes to shoe-shopping, running shoes and sneakers are my least priority hee hee. I would rather invest in a good pair of pumps or boots or sandals and flats but rubber shoes, no. However, since we have been running regularly, I always end up having injured knee and ankle. My doctor said this is caused by my running shoes which is not fit for running. He even threatened me that if I do not change my running shoes, I might end up having ankle air cast. Nay! Okay, so tomorrow, I must look for an affordable yet fit for running new pair of shoes.

Each time I speak with my BFF, I always end up with a tummy full of gas. You see, most of my friends are people who love to throw jokes and laugh about them non-stop. My bestfriend and I are no different from them. Our most recent convo was about her make-up kit. She is my exact opposite when it comes to make-up. She does not know a single thing. So I went on and tutored her over the phone and made a list of essential make-up to buy. Then we ended up laughing because she said, I could pass for a professor at this Little Rock beauty school, I told her that maybe she should enroll herself so she can get the proper training :). Oh well, I hope the next time she shares photos with me, she'd be able to apply those make-up tricks I told her.

Big Boy, Bigger Bike!

Last week, we have officially removed DS' bike's training wheels weee! Although, we need to adjust the bearings because he gained weight and all, he balances himself very very well now. I cannot believe my big boy is now biking the real thing. In less than 2 months, he'd be off from school and will be enrolled in Taekwondo and Swimming. Oh and yes, their soccer team won. I cannot believe that in less than 4 months, I now have a grade schooler! Time flies indeed!

Yes, I am a scaredy cat when it comes to these pills because I have heard of such horrible stories especially on the side effects which will only be seen after 1 year of taking it or even in the absence of pills, the side effects are there. But then again, I used to be a fan of crash dieting which made me unhealthy for the past year. DS was furious when his dad told him that he can't play with his PSP because DH accidentally deleted his games. Apparently, there was some sort of electronic pickpocketing or hacking that happened with Sony PSP. The email states that the hackers were able to gather vital information which might include credit card numbers yikes! DH who panicked, accidentally deleted all the games in DS' PSP. I just hope the issue gets resolved soon.

While explaining this to DS, he had to know the difference between thieves and hackers. It took a long while to make him understand that I finally gave up hee hee. One thing I knew, he was silently praying that we be safe from these bad guys.

One time I had this small talk with one of my co-parents at DS' school. She is currently 5 months pregnant and was too happy to be giving birth to another boy. She has an 8-year old girl and a little boy who is a classmate of DS. I told her that I think it is much easier to raise a girl but she detests because as per her experience, she only has to deal with the rowdiness of her little boy while her girl, even this early has been having a lot of issues already, say young girls drama talks. Yay! I cannot totally relate but I think I understand what she meant. I just hope that when the time comes that I will blessed with a little girl, I have the right parenthood skills to deal with her dramas and issues. I hope she won't be too conscious about her body that would easily make her take diet pills and what not.

In the meantime, I hope all celebrity teens dress like Elle Fanning, dainty, girly, decent and prim.

General Cleaning commences today. Thank God for Snow Day, I have no work and I can start my New Year's cleaning. On the other hand, DH still has to report for work today and I was reminding him about his car brakes and to be very careful with his driving. The road can be very slippery.

Anyway, one of my ultimate wishes is to have a walk-in closet similar to this. It would be very easy to organize my stuff and choose what I want to wear on a daily basis. But in the meantime, I have to settle with my mini-walk-in-closet for now and purge as many old clothes, accessories and purses as I could.

My friend, D once told me that he will work hard while he is young and so when he reached the age of 40 he could slow down and eventually retire by 50 and just enjoy the fruits of his labor. Wow!!! That is quite idealistic but if you put your eye on the goal, you can actually do it. No wonder, he is into investments and saving up for the future that even investing in a gold bullion or gold coins has been his favorite topic as well. I am not a huge fan of Melissa shoes but upon seeing this new Melissa Collaboration with Gaetano Pesco, an Italian Designer, I was like, Hmmm this got to be the perfect Autumn walking shoes.

According to Nitrolicious.com review:

The shoes are made of interconnected PVC circles but if you don’t like the bootie style, you can cut it into a sandal, a ballet flat, peep-toe or get creative with it. ‘This is the future of mass production,’’ Pesce says. ‘‘With the technology we have today, we can give people something that is half done and ask them to finish it.” Pretty interesting!

Between Gold and Silver, I am more likely to wear the color Gold than be caught wearing Silver. I guess it's just too sparkly for my taste. Speaking of Gold, do you know that you can make money out of trading or investing in rare silver or gold coins. A friend has been doing this for years and so far he has been making money out of it. Dear Santa,
I know my priorities so I am paying for our extended laptop warranty right away before I get tempted with other things. But, I have been very good and deserve a purple purse this Christmas. How's your Christmas shopping?
I have come up with a new Christmas List because there are a lot of people I failed to include in my 1st list. But if I were to make my own Christmas list, these 2 are part of it :P.

Next week would be one of my busiest weeks, but I am extremely grateful for the good news we got this weekend. So I would try to avoid as much as possible to rant. Off to check these cheapest auto insurance quotes.

Too bad, our office doesn't celebrate Christmas as they would want to maintain respect to employees who don't celebrate this occasion. So even if I have Christmas office decorating ideas, I just couldn't share it with them. On the other hand, DS' school will celebrate the Holidays with a Winter-Wonderland and Holidays Around The World theme through a party next Friday, rather than calling it Christmas party because not all of the students celebrate Christmas as well. I guess even if some people would not call this upcoming occasion "Christmas", there is still this festive feeling that comes with this Holiday season.

I bet my in-laws would be needing those Kichler outdoor lighting from Lighting Showplace if they plan to celebrate New Year's eve at their patio. Yes, even with the colder weather, they love to welcome each new year outdoor. As for me and my boys, we would usually cave in their living room when we feel too cold already. Even with plenty of beers, we still could not brave the cold breeze for long hours.

DH and I make sure that we record this local home and living show, UrbanZone and watch it every weekend together. It inspires us to keep working hard as we build our dream home funds. The show would feature different home styles and designs and I think DH and I are veering towards having a Mediterranean with a little combination of Zen style when we have our own home. I wonder when the show would feature log-style homes. It would be pretty interesting to see cabin furniture.
